In 1993, Mullen went public, raising $9.3 million. In 1994, Mullen's Truckload Division had a customer base of over 2,000. The company acquired the Premay Group of companies and installed satellite communications in Oilfield Division trucks. Mullen completed a series of acquisitions during the decade, including Grimshaw Trucking, Art Primeau Trucking Services & Rentals, Cascade Carriers Group of Companies, Spendiff Transport, McGinnis Rat Hole Drilling, Mill Creek Inc.
In 2000, Mullen issued its first semi-annual dividend payment to shareholders. A series of initiatives between 2000 and 2002 moved Mullen to the forefront of logistics-driven transportation services across Canada and into the Far North. In combination with Inuvialuit Development Corporation and Northern Transportation Company, Mullen began providing a total transportation solution to the natural resources industry in the Far North. Mullen acquired E-Can Oilfield Services in 2000 and a 49 percent interest in the largest base camp facility in the Mackenzie Delta region of the Northwest Territories. Record revenues and strong profits in 2001 positioned the company to acquire seven additional companies in 2002. These included Dominion Rathole Drilling Ltd., OK Rathole Drilling Ltd., Anderson Air Drilling Ltd., Lloydminster Heavy Crude Services Ltd., Temor Oil Services (1974) Ltd., RC Campbell Oilfield Services Ltd. and Kam's Oilfield Hauling.
Effective July 1, 2005, Mullen completed the Trust Conversion Arrangements and the conversion into an income trust.
Mullen accelerated its growth strategy through a series of acquisitions primarily focused in its Oilfield Services segment.
In 2005 Mullen acquired Tenold Transportation Inc., the remaining 55 percent of Payne Transportation Inc., and Schmidt Drilling L.P.
In 2006 Mullen completed the acquisition of all the outstanding shares of Pe Ben Oilfield Services Ltd., Spearing Services Ltd., Burnell Contractors Ltd. C. Steen Trucking Ltd., Kleysen Investments Limited, Canadian Dewatering Limited, Carl Brady Trucking Ltd. and Brady Sand & Gravel Ltd. In addition, Mullen added Producers Oilfield Services which included some crown jewels in the oilpatch - Swanberg Bros. Trucking, Formula Powell Group and Withers Trucking.
In 2007 Mullen acquired E.K. Inc., Pro North Well Management Ltd. and Pro North Oilfield Services Ltd.
In 2008 Mullen completed the acquisitions of R.E. Line Trucking (Coleville) Ltd. and the assets and business of the Transport Division of Essential Energy Services Trust. Mullen relocated its head office to Okotoks, Alberta from Aldersyde, Alberta.
Effective May 1, 2009, Mullen Group Income Fund was reorganized from an income trust into a traditional corporation. The corporate name is now Mullen Group Ltd. trading under the Toronto Stock Exchange under the symbol "MTL"
In August 2009, Mullen Group acquired the remaining 50.0 percent of all the issued and outstanding shares of Durango Oilfield Services Ltd., a privately owned company in which Mullen Group (indirectly) previously held a 50.0 percent equity investment. This company provides oilfield related fluid hauling services in the Hudson's Hope, British Columbia area. Its business now operates as a division of Cascade Energy Services L.P. The results of operations are included in the Oilfield Services segment.
In August 2009, Mullen Group acquired certain assets and certain aspects of the business of Blackwater Oil & Gas Co. Ltd. and certain assets of Blackwater Construction Co. Ltd., oilfield transportation companies operating in the Tumbler Ridge, British Columbia area. The assets and business acquired from these companies were transferred to and now operate as part of Cascade Energy Services L.P. The results of operations are included in the Oilfield Services segment.
In 2010, Mullen Group completed five acquisitions by purchasing directly or indirectly all of the issued and outstanding common shares of Radium Industrial Solutions GP Ltd., Ger-ed Transport Ltd., GVT Inc., Smook Contractors Ltd. (formerly known as Smook Bros. (Thompson) Ltd.) and 4645295 Manitoba Ltd.
